Scotland Zoom Meeting Report

22nd October 2022

Meeting report by Mike Cain

The meeting went ahead despite the muddle of Meta Rejigging of Facebook, and several zoomed including some new.

We spent a lot of time talking about rollators, bikes and other rural mobility aids that could cope with tough surfaces as well as what adjustments Motorbility might make. We are looking into the name of a firm near Glasgow that refurbishes mobility aids and sells them at a much reduced price.

We noted how good it is that some of our group have been selected for the Scottish National Team for the Rugby League World Championships – wheelchair.

As yet, we haven’t settled on a fixed meeting place or places. In any case, we will have zooms to include all isolated people including Islands and Highlands.

We had a good natter for about 2 hours and briefly talked about how we link through to Holyrood and NHS Scotland – funding available through GPS to attend special clinics.

The status of the usual annual reception to mark Rare Disease Day is not yet decided, but if it goes ahead as before Covid, we will probably have a meeting in Edinburgh!
