We are pleased to announce our first group social meeting, on Saturday 8th October 2022 in Birmingham.
Members should find further details of the day in their e-mails. We need members to confirm attendance by 26th Sept so that we can ensure appropriate catering.
The main objective of the day is for socialising with other members. However, there are also some other opportunities for more focussed discussions. Here is an approximate agenda for the day:
11:00 – 11:30 | Arrivals, with tea/coffee. |
11:30 – 12:30 | Table Discussion – meet the trustees: say hello and/or ask any questions Table Discussion – setting up a community for families with HSP Opportunity to chat with HSP researchers in small groups or one-to-one |
12:30 – 13:00 | Members can bring and demonstrate or talk about any mobility aids or other aids/equipment which they find to be particularly useful in their lives. |
13:00 – 14:00 | Lunch |
14:00 – 15:00 | Table Discussion – meetings and other activities which the group runs Table Discussion – Gaps and desires on information about HSP Opportunity to chat with HSP researchers in small groups or one-to-one |
15:00 – 15:30 | Departures |
We envisage that table discussions would take place in one half of the room, leaving the other half of the room free for members to chat with each other as they wish. The table discussions are intended to be open and on-going, so you would be welcome to join a table, share your views with those around the table and then move elsewhere.

We’ve a good number of people signed up for this. It is the last weekend for people to do this – members should check their e-mails for more details.
Hello,
I am a PhD in Cahir O’Kane Lab at the University of Cambridge in the department of Genetics. I am happy to join the meeting but with a note that I might have a family member visiting me if they get their visa. I am going to come if he does not visit me and sadly I wont be able to come if he comes.
