The warm sunshine on the day, reflected the atmosphere of our meeting. Before the spouses, this time all male, had time together, there was a good opportunity for a catch up and discuss some recent updates, especially as not everyone had been able to attend the AGM this year. This was also a suitable time to convey news and messages from those that couldn’t join us. Knowing that not everyone can drive to Milford, special thanks go to those that car share. We were pleased to welcome Phil Bungay, from Medway Neurological Network https://www.medwayneuro.org.uk/
I hadn’t been able to book a speaker this time, but Carrie helped fill the gap by demonstrating the mobile hoist she uses to get heavy mobility equipment into the back of her car. She also showed everyone her Batec, powered wheelchair attachment, and how to clip the electric device to her manual fixed wheelchair. This aid enables greater mobility with the reassurance of managing pavements with different heights, plus more grassy areas. Brooke also benefits from using a Triride, reinforcing how beneficial these attachments are.

Seeing this hoist, opened the doors for lots of conversation, sharing anecdotes and some laughter.
The good aspect of the chat session is a number of topics can be discussed. Nigel shared a Motability Special Offers social media post, which can help when choosing your mobility car. Phil wanted to ensure everyone knew about zero VAT on certain goods and services for those with a disability.
We were delighted to meet a new member of the HSP Support Group, plus welcoming some who, through personal circumstance, hadn’t been able to journey to Milford for a while. Before we started our journeys home, we all had a good catch up whilst sharing an afternoon tea.
We look forward to seeing people again on Saturday April 3rd from 3pm until 6pm. Estelle Marshal, Chair of the HSP Support Group, physiotherapist and author of ‘Living well with HSP’ will be joining us.
Keep safe and well during this winter period.
Best wishes, Mike and Jane
