A bright sunny morning welcomed 15 of us to the Birmingham group, including a new member. We had many apologies well in advance which made it possible to get the right numbers for the refreshments order. There were several last minute apologies, including one from a new member.
The chair exercises which were planned for this session had to be postponed until April 2027, but we had notified everyone in advance.
One of our members was keen to share with everyone about his experience with bladder incontinence and the various treatments he had tried and tested. Because it was a small group, it was easier for everyone to engage and share from their own experiences. Botox injections into the bladder were discussed and various types of catheters, including the Suprapubic.
Other general conversations included mobility aids, driving with HSP and the ‘Fuel Service App’ where one person shared about their very positive first experience of using it.
It was really good to get some varied feedback-
One new member said “ It was lovely to meet everyone although sobering at the same time – seeing what is ahead for me too”.
Another was “ I cannot begin to tell you how much it means to me to be part of a lovely group who understand how we all feel, living with HSP. If only it was the norm”.
As it was World HSP Day we took a photo of everyone at the meeting in the hope that it might be shared.
The catering team did a grand job for us and we are looking forward to the next meeting on Saturday 17th April 2027.
